Casey Claims Shell Open

Paul Casey tends to be one of those outstanding European golfers who fly under the radar a little. A consistent performer, especially in matchplay situations, Casey had not yet really made a name for himself in the U.S.

The timing of his maiden victory on the U.S tour in the week prior to the years first major at Augusta has gone a long way to shattering his cover and exposing him for the world class golfer that he is.

The writing was on the wall with his performance earlier this year at the WGC Accenture Matchplay where he reached the final before his campaign ended in defeat at the hands of a rampaging Geoff Ogilvy.

He has now moved from number 12 in the world to number 6 and has the self-belief of a player who belongs at the top. His victory has also seen him firm in the betting to take the green jacket in just under a weeks time.

I agree that Paul Casey has a lot of potential. Of course he plays Nike golf clubs, and is a little bit overshadowed by Tiger Woods, who also plays Nike clubs. He may not appear on any commercials when Nike can call on Tiger Woods.

    Thanks,
    Bill
