Tiger Hits Form At Best Possible Time

Tiger WoodsCould there have been a better time for Tiger to hit form? Should we have expected anything else?

After beginning the day five shot behind leader Sean O’Hair, Tiger Woods found himself in a rare position - trailing going into the final round of a tournament, with barely a sniff of victory.

Where everyone knows of his unmatched record as a front runner, what has been tested less often is his resolve from behind the leader. He displayed his mettle at Bay Hill on Sunday, draining clutch putts and defeating his opponent both skills wise and in the mental aspects of the game.

Sean O’Hair trotted out the old line of so many golfers who have suffered the same fate - it’s not a mental thing, I was just focused on my ow performance etc.

No one was convinced.

The U.S Masters begins at August on Thursday, and even before this victory Tiger had been installed as a heavy favourite. At the time I was na little surprised considering he had not yet shown the sort of form deserving of such a short price. The bookies have now been vindicated and his opponents have been warned.

Tiger is back.

Tiger is back! If I were going to put money on it, I think Tiger will win the Master by 2 or 3 strokes. I think people might enjoy this list, since Tiger and Arnold Palmer are both on it. I’m not sure if Byron Nelson’s record of 18 single season records will ever be broken.

I think you’re right - Tiger’s the only one who could possibly do it, and he’s probably going to manage his workload a little better in the coming years to focus more on the bigger events. It’s not like he needs the money.

Maybe you should do a top ten of most prize money won by all sportspeople (adjusted for inflation but that would be tough). I think Venus Williams recently became the female sportsperson who has won the most money, but that pales in comparison to Tiger and many other male athletes.
